The Evolution Following our merger with Nantian in 2019 and a subsequent hiatus from the Chinese market, Tambition has evolved. In 2025, we officially returned, now headquartered in Toronto, Canada. SAFE on DOS/VSE IBM 4361
Professional journey in enterprise IT began with the IBM 4361 system, running the DOS/VSE operating system. Started by writing programs in COBOL and Assembler on the SAFE system, DL/I and CICS, laying the foundation for our career as a mainframe system engineer.
VSE/SP for CARS, MERVA
Migrated to the VSE/SP system with CICS and DL/I, developed China’s first and revolutionary ATM network system (CARS), and maintained China’s SWIFT messaging system (MERVA).
MVS OS/390 for ABCS
Continued mainframe journey on MVS and later migrated to OS/390, with extensive work on CICS and DB2. Successfully implemented Sysplex for code and warm backup/recovery to support the ABCS core banking system.

A Tribute to Dr. Gene Amdahl and the Legacy of IBM Mainframe
My deepest respect and gratitude go to Dr. Gene Amdahl, a founding father of IBM’s OS/360 and the visionary behind Amdahl Corporation. His pioneering work laid the foundation for modern enterprise computing and changed the direction of my life.
It was through the IBM Mainframe system—born from Dr. Amdahl’s vision—that I first touched the heart of system architecture. I began mainframe career programming COBOL and Assembler on the IBM 4361 running DOS/VSE, and from there, my journey unfolded across generations of mainframe innovation: from DOS, VSE, MVS, OS/390 to z/OS, with CICS, DB2, IMS, and beyond.
But this journey was more than technical. Working with IBM Mainframe systems taught me discipline, logic, and structure. These qualities became the framework not only for my profession, but for my personal growth. Over time, this clarity helped open my heart to something greater than code—a spiritual awakening that led me to faith in Jesus Christ, and eventually to be part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
